What's Going On:
READING: Our story this week is One Gorilla. High frequency words: is, my, in; retell the story; patterned text. We will have a reading test with a cold read attached and they will both be graded.
VOCABULARY WORDS: one -a single thing. two - one more than one. three - one more than two. four - one more than three; five - one more than four. six - one more than five. seven - one more than six eight - one more than seven nine - one more than eight ten - one more than nine; high frequency words: is, my, in; retelling a story; patterned text
DOLCH WORDS: funny, go, help, here, I, in, is, it, jump, little
PHONICS: Letters I (long and short), L, A (long and short), Z. Handwriting practice for each letter.
MATH: Learn about one to one correspondence as introduction to subtraction. Study zero and one addition families; make flashcards.
SCIENCE: Learning about the eclipse! Watch it live on NASA! Draw a picture of the eclipse.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Learn about the United States and state symbols and families.
LANGUAGE ARTS: Introduction to nouns – person, place animal or thing. If you have any children-appropriate magazines that we can use to make a noun booklet, please send them in. Thanks! Write about the eclipse.
